A low poly marble inside a somewhat low res skybox. There are 12 directional light sources, each of a color sampled from the skybox. The subtle pearl effect on the marble is the result of mixing specular and diffused light. This scene presents about 10k triangles, almost all of them belonging to the skybox, drawing taking about 30ms per frame.

Context: A little while ago, I've decided I should develop a software 3D rendering engine, in order to revive an old project of mine; back then it was an application relying on DirectX 9, written in C# , back when these two used to get along... Now, more than a decade later, sticking to C#, i am trying to replace DirectX's powerful features with GDI+, driven by the curiosity of how much performance and utility one can get out of it. The purpose of this series is to gradually show off these capabilities.
