Paul Carey is a Melbourne based guitarist and composer. After studying jazz in earlier years, he discovered Melbourne’s thriving Brazilian Guitar scene and immersed himself in this culture. Paul lived in Brazil where he studied in Rio and performed around the city and other parts of the country. He has performed in Mexico at the Zihuatenajo International Guitar Festival along with countless Australian festvals. Throughout Paul’s career, composition has been not only a passion, but a compulsion. He is an award winning songwriter and in recent years, his compositions have been featured at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. He is currently completing a Graduate Diploma in Music at the MCM.

Paul writes of this piece, "I live in Brunswick, the hip inner north. It’s full of bars, cafes, music venues, but make no mistake, it’s suburbia all the way. Families, dogs, power tools, basically lots of noise, and yet, quite surprisingly this year with most people at home, a strange calm has fallen over the area and it has been very peaceful in the quiet north."
