Homemade Christmas Butter Cookies

3 cups sifted all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter (softened)
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
2 tablespoons milk
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1 egg white mixed with a little water (beat till frothy)
Colored sugars and sprinkles

Sift dry ingredients together. Cream butter. Gradually add sugar, creaming well. Stir in egg, milk and vanilla. Mix well. Gradually add dry ingredients. Chill if necessary. Use a cookie press or roll out a third at a time measuring 1/8 thickness on a floured surface. Cut into desired shapes. Put on an ungreased cookie sheet. Brush with egg white mixture. Decorate with colored sugar. Bake 5 to 8 minutes in a preheated 400 degree oven. Watch closely so they don't burn. Enjoy!
