Lebanese Health Minister Firass Abiad visits Hotel-Dieu hospital in Beirut after hundreds of paging devices used by the militant group's members exploded in a deadly wave across Lebanon Tuesday. The influx of so many casualties all at once overwhelmed hospitals in Hezbollah strongholds.
"The injuries were mainly to the eyes and hands, which caused finger amputations, shrapnel in the eyes, some people lost their sight," says Joelle Khadra Eid, an ER doctor at the hospital.
Hezbollah vowed to punish Israel after the deadly wave of explosions. There was no immediate comment from Israel on the incident, who had announced earlier that it was broadening the aims of the Israel-Hamas war.
