The Arcade and Attica railroad has been giving scenic steam engine rides since 1962. The ride departs from Attica and travels to Curriers Station. I took the “Haunted Halloween Express” trip right before Halloween. The Fall Foliage rides the past few weekends would have had beautiful foliage. On this trip many passengers were in costume and the station at Curriers was turned into a haunted house you can walk through. The food at the Curriers station was very good and reasonably priced. I had a bowl of chili and a Sahlen’s Hotdog. There are also a few other venders at the station selling pumpkins and maple syrup and another selling various baked goods.

I was able to climb into the steam engine cab and get an interview with Mike and Jimmy the fireman and engineer. I also interviewed the conductor Patrick, who shared history about the railroad and more. This steam engine has taken more than 1.8 million passengers on the scenic rail line sine 1962. Over the last 7 years, the engine and tender were restored and this is the first full season it is back on the rails for these trips.

I highly recommend this scenic train ride experience to everyone. They have a variety of themed rides throughout the year. From Fall foliage rides in autumn to Santa’s wonderland express around the holidays. They also have murder mysteries, Wine and Beer excursions, and much more. The staff is great and make this a wonderful experience for everyone.
