Thomas Gregory Jackson (born April 29, 1947), known professionally as Tommy James, and also known as Tommy Tadger, is an American rock, psychedelic rock musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer, widely known as leader of the 1960s rock band Tommy James and the Shondells.
Tommy James has 23 gold singles, nine platinum albums and has sold over 100 million records worldwide. More than 300 artists have covered his songs, and his music is in 27 films to date, as well as in commercials and TV shows.
The ongoing demand for James' music has moved into the 21st century with the release of his catalog internationally, which is now being distributed worldwide through Allegro. He was lauded by BMI for his success with the presentation of five Million-Air Awards, recognizing the great popularity of his music.
The bestselling autobiography, "Me, the Mob and the Music," tells the story of Tommy James' tumultuous relationship with Morris Levy, the head of Roulette Records, a 'front' for the Genovese crime family in New York.
