RaneRaps redefines what an Ivy League graduate looks like. Long before he entered the world where everyone was destined to be a banker, the founder of the next hottest startup, or the President of the United States, he fell in love with music. Growing up sandwiched between an older sister and a younger brother, he heard music from an older generation such as Lauryn Hill, En Vogue, and TLC all the while staying in touch with his nostalgia. It was this nostalgia that drove him to initially become a producer, flipping samples he found from old video game soundtracks and movies from the VHS era. Yet, he grew to love words circumstantially, as his mother ensured that a book was in his hand more than he sat in front of the tv to play games. It was the well crafted character development & colorful language that he wanted to have for himself and being inspired by groups such as The Cool Kids & U-N-I, he began to take rap seriously at the age of 16. Having gained some experience on stage performing at open mics like Da Poetry Lounge hosted by Shihan, the reactions of a crowd to his raps was infectious. It was the power to please and directly effect reality that kept him close to his craft. Today, RaneRaps still holds true to his hip-hop and R&B roots all the while pulling from genres such as pop and funk to craft a unique sound.
