📚 SQL Overview:
SQL (Structured Query Language) is a standardized programming language for managing and manipulating relational databases(RDBMS: Relational Database Management System). It is widely used to interact with databases and perform various operations, such as querying, updating, inserting, and deleting data.
💡 RDBMS(Relational Database Management System) Key Features:
📌 Tabular Structure:
✔ Data is stored in tables (rows and columns).
✔ Each table has a unique name and consists of columns (fields) and rows (records).
💡Data Manipulation Language (DML)
Data Manipulation Language (DML) is a subset of SQL. It is used to interact with and manipulate the data store in a database. It enables users to perform operations that involve retrieving, inserting, updating, and deleting data records.
💡SELECT and DQL
Some frameworks classify SELECT under Data Query Language (DQL) to distinguish read operations (querying) from write operations (modifying data). However, in traditional SQL standards and many database systems (e.g., MySQL), SELECT is still grouped under DML.

💡Transactional Support
DML operations are often used within transactions (e.g., COMMIT and ROLLBACK) to ensure data consistency and integrity.
💡A transaction is a single unit of work:
If a transaction is successful, all of the data modifications made during the transaction are committed and become a permanent part of the database.
If a transaction encounters errors and must be canceled or rolled back, then all of the data modifications are erased.
💡CRUD Operations
DML aligns with the CRUD paradigm:
Create → INSERT
Read → SELECT
Update → UPDATE
Delete → DELETE
💡INSERT – Add New Data
-- Insert single row
INSERT INTO table (column1, column2)
VALUES (value1, value2);
-- Insert multiple rows
INSERT INTO table (column1, column2)
VALUES (value1, value2), (value3, value4);
-- Insert from another table
INSERT INTO table2 (column1, column2)
SELECT column1, column2 FROM table1;
LOAD DATA INFILE – Bulk Import
Import data from a CSV/text file:
-- Insert from file
LOAD DATA INFILE '{File Path}'
INTO TABLE table
FIELDS TERMINATED BY ','
LINES TERMINATED BY '\n'
(column1, column2);
💡SHOW VARIABLES
The SHOW VARIABLES command in MySQL is used to display the current values of system variables. These variables control the behavior of the MySQL server, client sessions, or storage engines. These variables influence performance, security, memory allocation, and other critical aspects of database operations.
SHOW VARIABLES LIKE 'secure_file_priv';
If it returns a directory (e.g., C:\ProgramData\MySQL\MySQL Server 8.0\Uploads), you must place your file there.
Use forward slashes (/) in the file path, even on Windows.
