उत्परिवर्तनशील बाली प्रजनन् EVOLUTIONARY PLANT BREEDING (EPB) Video With English Subtitle

Local Initiatives for Biodiversity, Research and Development (LI-BIRD) has implemented the Evolutionary Plant Breeding (EPB) project in Lamjung and Jumla districts of Nepal from 1 July 2018 to 30 May 2022.The project was focused to access, maintain and increase the income of smallholder farmers through the use of evolutionary populations that increase productive gains while at the same time maintaining yield stability and ecosystem resilience under changing climate conditions. The various evolutionary populations were identified and enhanced with of a wide range of genetic resources from gene banks, community seed banks and on-farm sources. This project worked out on policy options for exploring and implementing alternative methods of variety registration to identify the population that enhance farmers’ resilience to climate change, sustainable crop productivity, and nutrition under rain-fed condition especially to poor and smallholders.

This video presents the key highlights about this project for achieving food and nutritional security of smallholder farmers by utilizing evolutionary populations especially for improving income and resilience of the beneficiaries.
