On today’s episode we interview Gloria live, in-studio. She tells us how she was able to lose 50 pounds over the last year on a the very low carbohydrate, LCHF Metabolic Coaching program.

Gloria’s Story
Gloria has lost 50 pounds in about 52 weeks on the LCHF diet as a part of the Metabolic Coaching program.
Average weight loss for a post-menopausal female is about 1-2 pounds per week, so this rate of weight loss (about a pound a week), is right on track.
She started the Metabolic Coaching low carb program because she wanted to feel better and be more active in the lives of her grandchildren.
She had tried diet after diet, but always found that hunger was a constant problem and a source of failure on typical low calorie diet programs like Weight Watchers.
On an LCHF diet, hunger is gone. It’s just not a problem for her. And the best part is that she no longer feels deprived.
Gloria attended the online webinar + 3 months follow up by email and text messaging. - Co-workers kept asking what she was doing to lose weight and feel better. They noticed! So she hosted a Metabolic Coaching course in her home for friends and co-workers. Now her whole office is on the program and a great source of additional support!
Is eating out a problem? Not for Gloria. She finds she can order out just about any place in town.
In addition weight loss, she has had improvements in inflammation, especially osteoarthritis in the hands and wrists.
And… after being on the plan for 6 months, her triglycerides decreased by 1/2 and good cholesterol (HDL cholesterol) increased dramatically.
How many carbs does Gloria eat daily? 20 grams net carbs or less daily. Is that hard? Not really, because she is not hungry, she is not starving.
When you have eggs and bacon for breakfast, a salad with ham and boiled egg for lunch, and a sunless burger for dinner, you’re just not hungry, not deprived, and it’s not hard.
TIP: You don’t have to cook every day. Cook a bacon/sausage, egg and cheese breakfast casserole on the weekend and freeze it to have for breakfast that week.
NOTE: Weight loss is not a straight down journey. There are twists and turns and plateaus. When you reach a plateau (3 weeks without weight loss), change something. Make some modifications and adjustments week by week to break the plateau.
Food diaries? Not for everyone. But if clients get stuck, they send a 3 day food diary to Dr. Anderson for review.
Any special supplements? Just 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar at night before bed.
TIPS EATING OUT: Order fajita nachos without the chips at your favorite Mexican food restaurant. Bunless burgers, bacon wrapped jalapeños, salads, chicken with marinara sauce, pizza toppings, all sorts of salads (and you can put the pizza toppings on a big salad).
She recommends George Stella’s low carb cookbooks and both of the low carb ketogenic cookbooks by Maria Emmerich.
Any shopping changes on LCHF? Now Gloria buys the 80/20 ground beef and ribeye steaks. The fattier meats are more filling and lead to less insulin secretion (hence less fat storage and more weight loss), as part of a low carb diet.
