Causes
Repetitive Motion: The syndrome is typically caused by repetitive wrist extension and flexion, leading to friction between the tendons of the first and second dorsal compartments.

Activities: It is commonly seen in sports such as rowing, skiing, horseback riding, weightlifting, and racket sports.

Symptoms
Pain: Pain over the dorsoradial forearm, about 5 cm from the wrist joint.

Tenderness: Tenderness and swelling in the affected area.

Crepitus: A creaking or rubbing sensation when moving the wrist.

Diagnosis
Clinical Examination: Diagnosis is primarily based on clinical examination, including tenderness over the dorsoradial forearm and positive provocative tests with resisted wrist extension and thumb extension.

Imaging: MRI may be used to confirm the diagnosis if clinical findings are unclear.

Treatment
Rest and Activity Modification: Rest and avoiding activities that exacerbate symptoms are the first line of treatment.

Wrist Splinting: Wrist splinting can help reduce movement and provide relief.

Steroid Injections: Corticosteroid injections may be used to reduce inflammation.

Surgery: Surgical debridement and release of the second dorsal compartment may be considered in recalcitrant cases.

Prognosis
Recovery: Most patients respond well to conservative treatment, but recovery can take several weeks to months depending on the severity of the condition.
