Kuravapur (Kuruguddi, Vallabhapuram)
Lord Shri Dattatraya’s first incarnation in Kaliyuga is Shripada Shrivallabha. His place of birth is Pithapuram. His Karyashetra and Tapobhumi was Kuravpur, Dist. Raichur (Karnataka). He stayed here most of his life. This holy land is donated by a Rajak devotee. Since it is donated to temple priest, it is called AGRAHAR. There is an Old Banyan Tree, Audumbar, Gaytri Suryodasana and Cave where his holiness Sripad Srivallabh did Dhyna. Now the cave has been redone and Nirgun Paduka (Foot Print) are kept for Darshan.
The village is at one end of the island and the temple is at the other end.
There are two, frequently used, routes to reach Kuravapur. One is via Raichur in Karnataka state and another one is via Makthal in Telangana state. Either way one has to cross the Krishna river in a small elliptical boat (Putti or Theppa) to reach this island.

Hyderabad to Kuravpur – total distance 192 Km;
Hyderabad to Mahabubnagar 100 km, Mahabubnagar to Makthal is around 70 km, Makthal to Kuravapur riverbanks is further 22 km)
The boats don’t ply after 6 pm. There are two locations on the river bank where Putti or small boats can be hired. One is Panchdev Pahad and another one is behind Vithal baba ashram (1 km from ashram). Number of boats near Vitthal baba ashram are less. It is risky to travel by primitive means of Putti when the River Krishna is full of water during rainy season..
There are two temples, one on the river banks (Shri Vallabha Temple, hence the place is also called as Vallabhapuram) and one on the island (Dattatreya temple). Mahaprasad and lunch is available at both temples but you need to call and inform them prior. The temple pujaris and other staff are very helpful and courteous.
At the Dattatreya temple, men have to wear a long lungi (available at the temple) and women have to wear saris or chudidaar (no western clothes allowed)
