The controversy surrounding former Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Chief Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed's court martial is linked to the Top City housing scheme. Here's what happened:
Allegations of Misconduct: Lieutenant General (R) Faiz Hameed faced allegations of misconduct related to the Top City housing project.
Unauthorized Raid: In 2017, Rangers personnel and ISI agents conducted an unauthorized raid on the Top City office and the residence of Kunwar Khan, a prominent figure associated with the scheme. During this raid, valuable items like gold, diamonds, and cash were confiscated under the pretext of a terrorism investigation.
Promised Return: After the raid, Hameed allegedly promised to return some of the confiscated valuables but retained a significant amount of gold and cash. Sardar Najaf, reportedly Hameed's brother, facilitated a meeting with Kunwar Khan and a brigadier.
Malicious Prosecution: Kunwar Khan accused Hameed of malicious prosecution, claiming that retired ISI brigadiers Naeem Fakhar and Ghaffar pressured him to pay cash and support a private television network.
Illegal Takeover: The investigation also revealed allegations that several former ISI officials were involved in an illegal takeover of the Top City Housing Society.
