Heavy recent rainfall in Scotland has caused some localised flooding and rivers to burst their banks. Forecasters predicted that some areas of higher ground in the amber warning area could see a month’s worth of rain within a couple of days, with more than 100mm of rain, and even 150mm, possible in parts of the Grampians and Cairngorms.

This has been true for Deeside in Aberdeenshire, North East Scotland, where the river Dee and Clunie Water have burst their banks as water flows down from high ground. This video shows the Clunie, which runs down from Glen Clunie and through Braemar, where it then joins the river Dee and flows past Balmoral to nearby Ballater. This was filmed around noon on Friday 18th November 2022 and shows the flow through the Braemar.

Amber weather warning was issued yesterday by the Met Office for much of the local area with transport disrupted and some localised flooding.
