EXPLANATION
This topic "Human Ecological Adaptation" is related to the ability of human beings to adopt different environmental conditions.
Human Ecological Adaptations refers to the ability of living organisms to adjust to changing conditions in their environment is called ecological adaptation. Human beings like any other species respond to changes in environmental conditions many of which are natural and others are self-made. As with other organisms survival and success depends on the ability of a human to tolerate and tide over new conditions. The intellectual capacity of humans makes them to overcome adverse environmental conditions. The exposure of humans to new environments brings about stress. Strains of adaptation are brought about in coherence with stress. The alternative for adaptation is the creation of a microenvironment, where the stress is minimised or eliminated, e.g., Eskimos on site. The adaptation at various levels like genetic levels (e.g., size, colour, personality), physiological level (e.g., increase in RBC and haemoglobin at higher altitude), growth and development level (e.g., increase in body size), cultural level (e.g., clothing, housing, etc.). Biological adaptation due to genetic base such as variation in colour of skin, hair, eyes, response to cold stress, body structure, etc. is less dominant than cultural adaptation such as birth spacing in Ikung Bushmen, igloos and harpoons of Eskimos, cattle colour of Masais of East Africa, etc.
