Prasar Bharati Archives presents - "Travelogues series" - Foreigner travellers to India.

Jean-Baptiste Tavernier (1605–1689), was a 17th-century gem merchant and traveller from France. Tavernier, a private individual, and the merchant who travelled at his own expense sailed to Persia and India six times between 1630 and 1668, covering 60,000 leagues on his account.

He was particularly interested in India's trading conditions and compared it to Iran and the Ottoman empire.
