Neiphiu Rio was sworn in as chief minister of Nagaland on 7 March, in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP president JP Nadda. With the title of Nagaland's longest-serving chief minister, Rio's swearing-in for the fifth time as CM, came after the NDPP staked claim to form the government in Nagaland in alliance with the BJP.
