Описание к видео Lancaster Woodturners coffee hour

John Kelsey: John challenges the group to review the recent AAW magazines for content, format, etc., to discuss next week, as the current editor, Josh Friend, will be retiring, and the AAW will be seeking a new editor. Our input may be useful information for the AAW.

Clubs’ news, plus upcoming events, including Lancaster MusicFest (9/6), Mid Atlantic Wood Turning Symposium (9/19-9/21), and South West Association of Turners Symposium (8/22-8/24).

Jim Duxbury: Riffing on Stephen Hogbin, Dux turns a ‘split’ maple and purpleheart bowl, then blows the group away with a four-way ‘convertible’ piece, plus a napkin holder (no magnets, thank you).

Vic Uembele: After many practice runs and fine-tuning, Vic turned an elegant
multi-axis bowl, using his version of the Dux Chuck. Vic also thanks dux and Mike Peace for their instructive videos on the topic. An interesting discussion followed regarding the adaptations Vic made to accommodate the chuck to his dovetail jaws.

Barbara Dill: Barbara congratulates John Kelsey on AAW’s full-page coverage of John’s recent Furniture Society Lifetime Achievement award, She also found the videos of the recent AAW national symposium to be a treasure trove of information (more than one could get by attending in person), and shows her recent initial thread-chasing attempts after being inspired by Jeff Hornung’s AAW video.

Barbara also discusses her upcoming video regarding her multi-axis progression through her years of developing her techniques; following her final multi-axis video, she looks forward to producing videos of her other work such as using a chain saw at the lathe, along with jigs to hold grinders, etc.

Dave Bell: Dave amazes with his two 21”-long Trembleurs (inspired by Eli Avisera and his Elineta jig). See Dave’s Instagram account for a wonderful video of Dave’s work.

Don Smith: Don presents a slide show of his process for creating a segmented and spindle-mounted clock, including his jigs and how he manages to mount the clock body using captured spindles.

Dave Potts: Dave uses his metalworking prowess to create a jig for turning a bowl from a board.

Dave Hudgel: Stay tuned for next week’s look at a Hogbin-inspired piece by Dave…
