In this first episode Taylor Reynolds follows the 2nd Delaware Volunteer Infantry in the Civil War from its formation in the Spring of 1861 through the Battle of Antietam in 1862.

Taylor Reynolds, a member of the Delaware Public Archives staff, presents a three-part history of the 2nd Delaware Volunteer Infantry, a prominent Delaware Regiment during the American Civil War. The 2nd was formed in Wilmington, Delaware in 1861, and would go on to gain a distinguished reputation within the Army of the Potomac until it was mustered out of service in the summer of 1864. Using records housed at the Delaware Public Archives, the Delaware Historical Society, and various letters and accounts from soldiers who fought with the 2nd, Reynolds follows the regiment through the three years it was involved in the war.
