Another crappy MP3 playing through the best PA system known to man.... well in my opinion. I apologize again for not having better video of the LABHORNs. I should have recorded the testing I did before everyone showed up. I almost cried listining to Talking Heads "Naked" and Boards of Canada's "Campfire Headphase" albums. At 60 feet away the soundstage was perfectly placed, the complex horn and percussion on TH's "Mr Jones" was individually defined and revealed things I had never heard before and the bass was musical and DEEP. when standing 2 feet in front of the sub array during BOC's "Oscar see through redeye" track it was like standing in the ocean letting the waves push and pull you, even though I had limited output due to the HORRIBLE voltage and amperage of the venue. My voltage regulator for the Highs, mids, crossovers and Computer was averaging (adding) +10 volts. Everytime the bass hit (my QSC 1310s were not going through the voltage regulator to avoid bottlenecking) the entire parking lot lighting dimmed to the beat and would trip the breaker when played to loud. I was still doing 110db around 60 feet away but I figure I could have added a good 6db-10db if I had the juice to back it up. Yes, the mids and tweeters are (40)5.25" Vifa Midranges and (16)Lineaum Ribbon tweeters. And yes they sound MUCH much better than the typical 10-15" midranges and colored horn tweeters so prevelent in Pro Sound. Everyone who heard it commented on its clarity, wide (360 degree dispertion) blanketing sound and of course stunning, musical bass. This while playing mp3s remember. Keep in mind standing behind the system Im well out of the main output of the system. The wide angle 360 degree tweeters are extremely vertically controlled the mids were in a fanned out 180 degree setup firing toward the front and the Labhorns are suprisingly directional in their output as well. You can still hear how clear it sounds even when your not in front of the system. Sounded so good it even got some people dancing in the 94 plus degree heat. Thanks for looking!
