Maruwa Kogyo is a small “Kiridashi Shirchirin” (Japanese barbecue grill) manufacturer from Ishikawa, Japan. Originally formed back in 1976, this company has been making Kiridashi Shichirin using traditional methods originally established in Japan’s Edo Period (1603-1867).

While Shichirin were a staple in many homes after its creation, demand for them has waned with the advent of in-home-Gas lines and electric stoves. At its peak, there were as many as Twenty ‘Kiridashi Shichirin’ companies in the world.

Today, there are only Two; and one of them is in trouble.

Following an earthquake of the level 6 seismic scale on June 19th, 2022, the Kiln used in the construction of all their products was destroyed.
