1. Mighty LORD, the God of vengeance,
God of vengeance, now shine forth!
Rise up, Lord, the judge of nations,
Give the proud what they deserve.
LORD, how long shall wicked men, how
Long shall wicked men exult?
Arrogant, their words outpouring,
Evil men, who taunt and gloat.

2. They, O LORD, have crushed Thy people;
They Thy heritage distressed;
They kill stranger and the widow,
Murdering the fatherless.
Yet, they say, The LORD sees nothing;
Jacob’s God does not have eyes.
Understand, O foolish people!
When, O fools, will you be wise?

3. Who the ear made, does He hear not?
Who formed eyes, does He not see?
Who warns nations, teaches knowledge,
Will He not chastisement bring?
Thoughts of man the LORD knows fully,
Knows that but a breath are they.
Blest the man, O LORD, Thou chast’nest,
Teachest him to know Thy way.

4. Give him rest from days of trouble,
Till they dig the wicked’s grave.
For the LORD leaves not His people;
He will not His own forsake.
Righteous judgments will be rendered,
Justice will again return.
Those of upright heart will follow
And the way of justice learn.

5. Who will rise for my deliv’rance,
Stand for me against the foe?
If the LORD were not my helper,
Soon my soul would silence know.
If I say, My foot is slipping!
LORD, Thy mercy will uphold.
When my heart is filled with burdens,
How Thy comforts cheer my soul!

6. Can the wicked princes join Thee,
Who by law injustice frame?
They conspire against the righteous,
Death to upright ones proclaim.
But the LORD is still my strong hold;
God, my refuge, God, my rock.
He repays the evildoers;
God the LORD will wipe them out.
