Trigun is an all time classic 90's anime, right up there with Cowboy Bebop. In terms of pacing, story, and setting they share a decent number of similarities, but Trigun gets less figuratively down to earth than it's counterpart. It's main character, Vash the Stampede, and his counterpart Nicholas Wolfwood each exemplify opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to the core idea: the value of life vs the greater good. In terms of character and theme, it's deep and complex, slowly drawing you in with it's lighthearted elements, before throwing emotional gut punches. If you want something to make you think, this is one of the anime for you
