0:00 – Prologue
In this video, we’re going to look at ten legitimate reasons not to move to California. These reasons are based on pretty much everything that matters to people in terms of living somewhere. Things like safety, cost of living, and of course, likelihood of getting nuked by North Korea.

0:45 – The Homeless
There can be many reasons for this homelessness crisis, some of which probably include more social programs, more shelters, and… well, amazing weather. It’s just a better idea to sleep outside in California than it is in Michigan. You’re homeless, but you get a tan.

2:00 – Too Close to North Korea
Retired lieutenant colonel Hal Kempfer, an international security expert, believes that Long Beach is a prime target for North Korean missile. He said: "If I'm sitting in North Korea and looking at possible targets, I'm going to be looking at Long Beach very closely." Jee, Hal, thanks for giving the North Koreans a great idea to annihilate hundreds of thousands of us.

3:08 – Drug Problems
Unfortunately, homelessness and drugs are closely related. San Francisco is the perfect place if you’re curious to see a guy injecting heroin into his leg in front of a 7/11. Yeah, in front of it. They won’t even hide themselves, they’ll just straight up shoot a needle into themselves as you’re walking out with your hot dog and your mocha latte that you got for a total of $2.89.

4:11 – Natural Disasters
The coastline is in the Ring of Fire, which is what God called it after the song by Johnny Cash. It’s an area of volcanoes and seismic activity, which means it’s prone to earthquakes. That’s where the San Andreas Fault is located, which has had five major earthquakes in a bit over a hundred years. You know it’s serious when Dwayne Johnson made a disaster movie about it. After earthquakes, the next possibility is a tsunami.

5:08 – Poor Upkeep
The water system is basically the same as it was in the 1960s, which shows how California’s infrastructure needs have been pretty neglected for the past 50 years. As for the roads, they are some of the poorest in the nation and they’re just getting worse and worse.

5:57 – More Crime
High population, mismanagement and Mexican drug wars mean that California is a pretty dangerous state. It’s still not in the Top 10 yet, and hey, it’s not a competition, they don’t have to be, but Stockton and Oakland are among the most dangerous cities in the nation. The police in Stockton even put up a billboard stating “Welcome to the 2nd most dangerous city in California. Stop laying off cops”. Clearly, according to them, police funding may have something to do with it.

6:44 – High Taxes
Yes, taxes are a thing everywhere. Well, not exactly. Some countries don’t charge incomes taxes, like Kuwait because it’s very rich in petrol, or Somalia because, well, it’s anarchy there and you will get murdered for your socks.

7:37 – California's Crazy Traffic
Because of the high density of population and the fact that the U.S is not very good at public transportation, California suffers from terrible traffic. And since bad traffic is universally known as one of the most annoying things that make people miserable, you have to wonder if it’s worth it.

8:12 – Expensive Housing Prices
Along with a general high cost of living come ridiculously high housing prices, which are so much higher than some lovely places in the country that it really makes you wonder what the point is to buy or rent a place in California. Are you going to pay that much money just so you can feel bad when you cross paths with hundreds of homeless people sleeping in tents?

8:43 – Bad For Entrepreneurs
Partly because of the high taxes, California is one of the worst states in the nation for business. This is particularly affecting small businesses, and as you can imagine this is really bad for employment. But big companies are also getting out of the state, with corporations like Apple, Tesla and other, practically up and moving their headquarters to other states overnight.

9:14 – Why Texas is Better
As you can see, California is NOT the place to move to. Check out this video here that explains why Texas is a better place to move to than California.
