Cuppy's Music Curios S2 E3: The "New" New York Dolls Part Two

Описание к видео Cuppy's Music Curios S2 E3: The "New" New York Dolls Part Two

The New York Dolls started up again in March of 1976 and toured throughout the year trying to drum up interest in hopes of landing a record contract. Despite performing over thirty shows and having a steady residency at Max's Kansas City, no record label wanted to touch them with a ten foot pole. David Johansen and Syl Sylvain continued to soldier but eventually ended the band at the end of the year. The two would part ways and form their own bands along with signing record deals as solo artists. Despite the deaths of Johnny Thunders in 1991 and Jerry Nolan the following year, the Dolls would officially reunite in 2004 with bassist Arthur Kane but that is another story! Listen to Cuppy talk about the "new" New York Dolls.

Special thanks to the website From the Archives for helping make this video possible, the wonderful photography of Bob Gruen who documented The New York Dolls and the digital archives of the fan magazine Rock Scene as well.
