In this video Dr.Isacc Abbas has explained about epistaxis ie. Nose bleeding and it’s first aid. If nose is broken and bleeding , inorder to stop that bleeding,immediately we tilt our head back and lie down, which is completely wrong. That will make Blood to flow backwards to food pipe reaching stomach and leads to stomach infections and vomiting. Blood vessels that are located in the nasal cavity meet at the tip of nose are collectively called as kiesselbach plexus.
During bleeding we should firmly pinch this plexus. ie. the tip of our nose for 10 to 15 mins and lean forward. This would block those blood vessels and the bleeding will be stopped.
During this time ,Inhalation and exhalation should be done through our mouth. Blood that gets collected in the mouth should be spit and not to be swallowed.
The Blood vessel that runs under the roof of the mouth reaching nose is greater palatine artery. If bleeding is very heavy,we can put ice cubes in our mouth. That will numb this blood vessel reducing the bleeding. Then we can check with doctor.
