On June 7, 2025, Pullman Police Officer Talib stopped a 21-year-old woman for driving without a working headlight on her Jeep. The Jeep also had expired vehicle registration. When Officer Talib approached the driver's side of the vehicle, he indicates in the police report that he could smell alcohol coming from the woman's breath. She admitted to consuming 2 White Claw alcoholic beverages. As a result, Officer Talib asked the woman to step out of her vehicle in order to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which included a portable breath test (PBT). The result of the PBT was 0.094% BAC. The woman was placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and was transported to the Pullman Police holding facility, where she agreed to submit to an evidential breath test. She provided two breath samples, which were each tested two different ways, and the lowest reading was 0.078% BAC. Despite being under the legal limit of 0.08% BAC, she was still issued a criminal citation for DUI and provided with a court date.
