Plane Spotting Malta Airport 13-10-2018 | Wet Start & Mad-dogs!

After a very wet start of the trip, day 2 was the full day of spotting at Malta Airport! It's certainly not the busiest airport in the world, but it's impressive how they cope with the amount of movements on a apron which is not really that big. It seems not much bigger than Rotterdam Airport actually! But the traffic is very good. What did I see? Well let's begin by saying you do see a lot of Ryanair at MLA. Them and Air Malta are the main airlines that operate out of Malta. I also saw some Wizzairs, Transavia France, Easyjets including an A320NEO, Alitalia, Turkish Airlines, Lufthansa, Czech Airlines, and Jet2. I also got the whole Air Malta fleet on tape aswell as an Olympic Bombardier Dash-8. But there were three aircraft which stood out this day. Firstly there is Volotea coming in with a Boeing 717! A rare aircraft in Europe. I got a couple of 717s from Blue1 years back, but that airline no longer exists. To make things ever better, Danish Air Transport flew in OY-RUT, an MD82 which once belonged to Meridiana but still wears their livery! To see those two aircraft taxi around the airport at the same time was incredible! And then there's Emirates who serves MLA with a B777-300ER. The flight goes via Lanarca and is Malta's sole, but very impressive scheduled widebody movement. Really cool to see how an aircraft this big is being handled by an airport this small! I also got some privat jet and a helicopter from Qatar on tape, aswell as some quick shots of stored aircraft which are two Arik Air 737s, two A321NEOs from the recently fallen airline Primera Air, and a B767-200 which is still active but just sitting there while it wasn't used. All in all an action packed compilation from Malta International airport! I hope you enjoy!
