This film was produced to mark the 20th anniversary of the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing. Through interviews with the study’s Founding Director, Professor Sir Michael Marmot; current Director, Professor Andrew Steptoe and Co-Director Professor Paola Zaninotto, it tells the story of why ELSA is so important for ageing research and looks at what it has achieved in its first 20 years. We also hear from some of the people who have given answers to our questions, wave after wave – the people who have allowed their lives to be documented in order to make ELSA the landmark evidence base on ageing it is today.
