CBSE Class 10 Science Chapter 6 - Life Process - Autotrophic mode of nutrition -
Autotrophic means Self nutrition. So what are the raw materials for plants to produce their own food to gain nutrition. Plants use Carbon dioxide and water from their surroundings and in the presence of sunlight convert it into energy. But all this energy is not used at once and is stored in the form of starch. Starch are the internal reservoir of plant. So photosynthesis is the process of conversion of light energy into chemical energy by the green parts of the plant to produce food. This green pigment in plants comes from chlorophyll.
Photosynthesis Steps:
1. Absorption of sunlight by chlorophyll
2.Conversion of light energy into Chemical energy and splitting of water molecule into Hydrogen and oxygen
3. Reduction of carbon dioxide takes place to produce carbohydrates.
So the raw material involved in the photosynthesis process are
1. Chrophyll
2. Carbon dioxide
3. Water
4. Sunlight
