Chand Baori is one of the oldest and most attractive landmarks in Rajasthan, India. Consisting of 3,500 narrow steps over 13 storeys, it extends approximately 30m (100ft) into the ground making it one of the deepest and largest stepwells in India.

Stepwells were developed in India to cope with seasonal fluctuations in water availability. They provided an ingenious way to gather water, bathe and seek shelter.
