2.0 movie review: 2018’s most awaited film releases today.

Rajinikanth starrer 2.0 releases today and it won’t be an understatement to say that the entire country has been waiting for the marvel to unfold on the silver screen. 2.0 continues the journey of Chitti from the film Enthiran but this time he is challenged by a villain played by Akshay Kumar. 2.0 is said to be a spiritual successor of Enthiran.

Akshay Kumar’s look in the Shankar film has intrigued the audience ever since the teaser dropped. With the trailer, fans got curious about the unique storyline.

With Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar coming together, this film will be a treat for audience everywhere. Amy Jackson plays a significant role in the film too. Touted as the most expensive film made in Indian cinema, it looks like 2.0 might become the biggest film that we have seen till date.

2.0: Quick take

"Looks like an Akshay Kumar show. Rajinikanth said at an event recently that 2.0 is "Akshay's film" and Thalaiva might be right if the first half of this mammoth film is anything to go by. 2.0 starts with the Crow Man in an intriguing and powerful sequence. What follows is the Crow Man snatching away every cellphone in the city. As he creates mayhem, the need for Chitti, the robot, is felt not only by the people in the film but also by the audience, which consists of mostly Rajinikanth fans. The face-off between Chitti and Crow Man is undoubtedly the most exciting sequence in the first half. The film looks superlative as far as the VFX is concerned but the story is yet to pick up pace. Rajinikanth in his scientist avatar doesn't bring much excitement and Amy Jackson seems to have taken her role of a robot literally, passing every scene with a straight face."

2.0 is a 2018 Indian 3D science fiction action film directed by S. Shankar and co-written by Shankar with B. Jeyamohan. The film was produced by Subaskaran Allirajah and Raju Mahalingam under the banner Lyca Productions. A spiritual successor to Enthiran (2010), it features Rajinikanth reprising the roles of Dr. Vaseegaran and Chitti, alongside Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson. Sudhanshu Pandey, Adil Hussain, Kalabhavan Shajohn, and Riyaz Khan appear in supporting roles. In addition to its original language, the film will be released in 14 other languages with dubbed versions. The soundtrack was composed by A. R. Rahman, with lyrics written by Madhan Karky and Na. Muthukumar.

Produced on an estimated budget of ₹543 crore (US$76 million), it is the most expensive Indian film. Pre-production work for the film began in June 2015. Jackson joined the project the same year in October. After negotiations with numerous actors, including Aamir Khan and Arnold Schwarzenegger, failed to materialize, Kumar was signed on as a primary persona. Principal photography was launched at AVM Studios in December 2015; the first schedule was filmed at EVP World. Scenes were primarily shot in India, particularly in Chennai's Madras Boat Club and Delhi's Jawaharlal Nehru Statdium. Some were set in exotic locations by the use of visual effects. Filming was completed by August 2017. It was released worldwide on 29 November 2018.
