Quick Tip: How To Use L.E. Wilson Bushing Dies

Описание к видео Quick Tip: How To Use L.E. Wilson Bushing Dies

Today our man in the know, Brownells Firearm Support Tech Caleb Savant, explains a tricky subject that stumps even some experienced handloaders: bushing dies. Specifically, L.E. Wilson Bushing Dies. A bushing die differs from a standard sizing die in that it contains an interchangeable bushing to size the case neck. The thickness of the neck of a given cartridge differs from one brass manufacturer to another. Bushings are available in increments of .001", so you can customize the amount of resizing to the minimum needed to get the neck's outside diameter to fit your rifle's chamber. The thicker brass at the neck, the more it gets worked when it's sized. And over-worked brass becomes harder, more brittle, and develops inconsistencies in concentricity, which results in inconsistent muzzle velocities. Caleb explains how to determine the bushing size you need, AND he shows us how to install the bushing into an L.E. Wilson die. Hint #1: leave the bushing just a teensy bit loose in the die so it "floats" and levels itself as it contacts the case neck. Hint #2: Redding and L.E. Wilson bushings are interchangeable, though Caleb has a recommendation for handling the Redding die's expander ball. NOW, let's resize some brass!
