In Flanders Fields Museum

The In Flanders Fields Museum is an interactive war museum located in the Cloth Hall of the Belgian city of Ypres. The name refers to a well-known poem by John McCrae: In Flanders Fields. The museum was thoroughly renovated in 2012 and 2021. In the commemoration years '14-'18, almost 1.5 million people visited the museum.

During the First World War, the region around Ypres was the scene of one of the most devastating conflicts in history. Now that the last witnesses have died, the In Flanders Fields Museum is more than ever the gateway to the First World War in Flanders. The renovated In Flanders Fields Museum confronts the visitor with the consequences of the Great War. The exhibition with multimedia applications shows life at the front. Each visitor also receives a poppy bracelet with which he can discover four personal stories of 'the little man' from the 'Great War.
