Im getting ready for heat-treating the bowie knife. I want to practice a traditional clay heat treatment. This will give me the best chance of controlling the hardened steel pattern.

Once it is a fine powder, the charcoal will be added to clay to make a temper. This should allow air drying that will hold through the heating processes.
