INCREDIBLE Southern Fried Chicken at Decha Halal Restaurant in Hat Yai (ไก่ทอดหาดใหญ่)

The Southern Thai style of Deep Fried Chicken is SO good, for many it's clearly worth the entire trip to the South! We are lucky to find the well-known 'Kai Tod Decha' open from the pre-lunch hours today (a great thing, because there was no way we could handle waiting ALL the way until lunchtime for these flavors of Fried Chicken!!).

Hat Yai-style fried chicken is already famous all over Thailand, locals love enjoying this at street carts and night-markets all across the country. You will not believe your tastebuds though, having this chicken in its HOME areas, today we are right at the source of this mind-bogglingly tasty flavor.

Imagine a chicken batter of THAI CURRY, gentle and genius, the tart additions of dry spices, the subtle introductions of the all-too-familiar fire (Southern Thailand has a real love of chili heat), and finally some insane juiciness from expertly timed deep-fryer action - it is match of absolute perfection.

This is hands down the best fried chicken I've ever had, and thanks SO much for hanging out with Li and myself down here in Hat Yai today!
