Godagari is an upazila of Rajshahi district of Bangladesh . Kirtinasha Padma on one side and Mahananda on the other side Barendra township is the Godagari region.

Godagari is an ancient and famous upazila of Rajshahi district. There is disagreement over the naming of Godagari. First of all, if we look at it in the form of history, it is known that Sri Chaitanyadev, the founder of Vaishnavism, traveled from East Bengal and bathed in Prematali to Gaud for the purpose of preaching the religion. Later it is said at the stage of legend that in the ceremony of Vaishnava religion of Prematali, Sri Goda, the Vaishnava Premi Bhav disciple of Sri Chaitanyadev, later came to this area to promote Vaishnava religion, and remembered Mahaguru's bathing tarpan with devotion, he used to bathe in Tamal Tala ghat of Prematali every Purnima Tithi. He used bullock cart as a vehicle on the way. At night there was a sound of bullock carts. People said whose car goes? The answer was 'Godar Garhi'. There is a legend that the name 'Godagari' originated from this 'Godar Garhi'.
