India and the US achieved a historic milestone in space cooperation with the successful launch of the $1.5 billion NISAR satellite aboard ISRO’s GSLV F-16. Developed jointly by ISRO and NASA, the NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar mission will track earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic activity, landslides, and monitor environmental changes. The mission, hailed as an “outstanding success,” marks the first GSLV flight to a Sun Synchronous Polar Orbit.
