Hello and welcome to The Firelink Conspiracy.
Thank you for watching!
*I had to reupload this video due to issues with the audio, I'm really sorry for those who had commented! I appreciate your support. I'll make sure to avoid making the same mistake in the future.
This series aims to uncover every secret and take note of every detail present in the Dark Souls series of games.
Here are some notes that adress a portion of the '*' symbols you've seen in this video. Just note that most of them are there to signal that I'll be covering that specific topic on a later chapter.
*(At around the 1m59s mark, as well as 19m03s) It's unclear how the title of 'fire keeper' came to be, however, it could, at that point in time, reffer to the duty of the Way of White maidens, which may have been to produce undead through the ritual we saw, that involved sparks of flame. The title of 'fire keeper' has a more definite meaning though, but I'll adress that on a later video, possibly the next one.
*(At around the 4m21s mark) By "both natural and artificial processes" I mean that the fire could have been surfacing naturally, given how we see sparks of flame naturally traveling up an archtree in the opening cinematic (that is likely how the dragons got their 'life'), but also, that events like the firestorm could have contributed to its emergence as well.
*(At around the 10m10s mark) Here I'm reffering to how Gwyn used his Lord Soul to secure his empire. Besides his army and family, which could have received a portion of it, he also notably used it to "bribe" the Four Kings, to expand his influence. I will cover this with more detail in a later video.
*(At around the 13m52s mark) I'm simply reffering to the parish area that is near to the burg. The area where Andre and the Titanite Demon are located was likely a Way of White building as well. Of course I will delve into detail later.
*(At around the 16 minute mark) The 'power of the ancient dragons' may either be their state of being before the age of fire, which has been reffered to as "transcendental" to death, or their immortality post-fire, which could have worked like an usual human's, assuming of course that they didn't have a limited life span before the undead curse, which is a possibility that I think was the case. Another possibility might be that he seeked the sorcery-like powers of the ancient dragons, but that is something I never mentioned before. I will say one thing, though, there is a reason for the Dragon School of sorcery to be called that.
*(At around the 20m45s mark) I already explained my views on that on the previous '*' note.
*(At around the 22m08s mark) I will adress the topic of 'blood' later, however, "through our eye sockets" may be a literal example of that. The fire could have been directly drained through the eye sockets, burning the skin around them. That's why hollows have huge holes as eyes, with a small flame-like thing lingering inside them.
*(At around the 30m40s mark, also 30m53s) I used "Anor Londo royals" and "Thorolund royals" almost interchangeably here, because we don't know the specifics around it. But Thorolund and Anor Londo may as well have the same royalty, Anor Londo may simply be their main "castle/cathedral". Carim is a different thing, though, that's why I used the word "provinces". It appears that there was a political conflict within the 'world of men'. I will adress that on a later video.
*(At around the 31m36s mark) By that I really mean "concept". That their main representatives were actual 'gods' who were fighting a 'curse', that 'undead' are 'agents of the dark', that's why they must be 'hunted', etc. The Abyss however is a more complicated thing, which I will discuss later. What I will say now is that the 'darkness that emerged' agressively may be consequence of the artificial extending of the 'age of fire', of the 'banishment of dark'. It was a real "threat", however the curse may have been what caused it in the first place by going against the "law of nature", the "natural cycle".
