How to Groom a Horse- The Grooming Routine

Welcome to Ashley Mason Equestrian! In this video, we’re walking you through our comprehensive horse grooming routine to keep your equine friend looking and feeling their best. Follow along as we demonstrate each step of the process:

Step One- Hoof Pick: Start by picking out your horse’s hooves to remove dirt, stones, and debris.

Step Two- Rubber Curry: Use a rubber curry comb to loosen dirt and stimulate the skin, promoting circulation.

Step Three- Hard Brush: Follow up with a hard brush to remove the loosened dirt and dust.

Step Four- Soft Brush: Use a soft brush for a gentle sweep over the coat, leaving it smooth and shiny.

Step Five- Mane Brush: Carefully brush through the mane to detangle and smooth out knots.

Steo Six- Pick Tail: Gently pick through the tail with your fingers or a wide-toothed comb to remove tangles.

Step Seven- Use a Damp Rag on the Face: Wipe your horse’s face with a damp rag to clean sensitive areas without causing discomfort.

Step Eight- Apply Hoof Oil: Finish the hooves with a bit of hoof oil to condition and protect them.

Step Nine- Check It Over: Give your horse a thorough once-over to ensure you haven’t missed any spots.

Step Ten- Clean Up Your Area: Finally, tidy up your grooming area, putting away tools and disposing of any debris.
