The test was sponsored by the Gemological Institue of America with a $50,000 grant to find technologies to replace mercury use to recover gold to save lives among artisanal miners and create clean gold sources for the jewelry industry.
The test compared 5 gold recovery processes using tailings and concentrates from Peruvian mines. The results found the Goldrop recovers more gold than using mercury!
