UNBOXING the Krone (baby) BiG X 580 by ROS, 1/32 collectible scale model.

Long time model collector and friend of the channel, Trevor Tallon, kindly loaned his modified BiG X 580 forage harvester as the subject for this weeks video. With many general release and limited editions in his collection, Trevor goes one step further and has select models modified to achieve more authenticity beyond what even the model brands deliver.

Having purchasing this Krone BiG X 580, it was decided that the original wheels just weren't meaty enough and his good friend Gary Thompson was called in to source replacement parts along with the fitment of them. Gary's work is well known within the farm model community specialising in scratch builds and full conversions whilst being a dedicated collector himself.

Apart from the obvious wheel size difference there is no indication that any work has been carried out, such is the quality of Garys craftsmanship. The result is a model that looks more in proportion with the real life 1/1 harvester. The last item on the checklist was to place a 1/32 scale driver inside the sealed cab and some say that Gary recreates these little operators in his own image :)

The first 1/32 Krone harvester I handled was the 2019 BiG X 1180 and from that we see the slight improvements ROS have made in the time since this 580 was originally released with accessible cab door and rigid header fitment. Many of the good 1180 features are also spec'd on the 580, opening side and rear panels uncover the 585 hp 15.6 ltr engine. The spout comes with interchangeable ends should you need that extra length when you have the 7.5m maize head attached.
