Like many other British Empire soldiers injured in the First World War, Canadians were hospitalized in England, where they were introduced to stitching as a way to improve dexterity and overcome post-traumatic stress disorder. This led to the making of a tapestry by 145 First World War servicemen from Britain, Canada, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand.
