MACKINAC ISLAND VACATION | Murray Hotel

It is worth it to stay overnight at Murray Hotel or any Mackinac Island hotel for a Mackinac Island Vacation even if you are in a RV plus it is a must to explore what Mackinac Island, Michigan has in store!! We will share how to take a ferry to Mackinac Island and will give you a Mackinac Island tour.

After staying for the night at the Harvest Hosts (The Gourd Barn) in St Ignace, we drove our RV to Sheplers Ferry in St Ignace. We had no problem parking our Class C RV for 2 nights at the ferry terminal plus it was really easy to buy the tickets for the ferry and the parking pass. but a beautiful day. It was great to see the Grand Hotel from the water plus the view of Mackinaw Island from the ferry. If you are planning a trip to Mackinac Island in Michigan, this is a must watch video!!

We went first to Murray Hotel to drop off our suitcases at the front dessk and then decided to explore Mackinac Island. The Murray Hotel is located right in the heart of Mackinac Island’s downtown right across from Star Line ferry Dock. You can enjoy a breakfast buffet plus they have the very popular Murray Hotel Fudge. The historic, 69-room hotel dating back to the late 1800’s is family owned and managed since 1882 and you can relax in the Victorian-era décor or to step out our double doors onto Main street. It is a great hotel right in the heart of Mackinac Island!!

There are so many ways to explore Mackinac Island like a Mackinac Island Bike ride, hiking and carriage rides!! We did both hiking and bike riding around the island. There is no cars on the island except for emergency vehicles!! We did see a fire unfortunately and they did have a fire truck but unfortunately the historic house was not in good shape afterwards.

Some of the things to do on Mackinac Island is checking out the Mackinac Island Grand Hotel, Arch Rock, Sugar Loaf rock, Ann's Tablet, Fort Holmes. the Mackinac Island Library (Great chairs to sit on behind the library with an awesome view), hiking, biking, trying Mackinac Island Fudge and Fort Mackinac!! There is so much to do on the island or you can just relax on the lawn in front of Fort Mackinac!!

There are bikes to rent on Mackinac island or you can bring your own on Sheplers ferry. We weren't able to bring our E-bikes on Sheplers Mackinac Island Ferry because Mackinac Island doesn't allow E-bikes on the island. There is a fee to bring your bikes on the ferry to Mackinac Island but it would be worth it. It isn't cheap to rent bikes but it is a great way to get around the island. There is great views all over the island!!

If you are planning a Mackinac Island trip, then Mackinac Island Michigan is a must visit and we recommend staying for a few nights because it is definitely a different experience when the day crowds leave Mackinac island at the end of the day. We loved it and hope to visit Mackinac Island Michigan in the future again!!
