Surah Fatir was revealed in Makkah. It was a time when the antagonism from the disbelievers towards the Prophet of Allah and his followers had grown quite strong and every sort of mischief was created to frustrate the mission of the Prophet (s.a.w). Allah warned the disbelievers, through this Surah, that their conspiracies were against their own interest. No matter how powerful they thought themselves to be, they could never overpower Allah's decisions.
Although Surah Fatir was primarily addressed to the Disbelievers of Makkah, it stands as an open invitation to all generations of people, of all times, to look around carefully and use their intellect to understand that there is no basis for "shirk" (associating partners with Allah) and that there is no being besides Allah, which might possess divine attributes and powers.
Therefore all our admiration and worship should be purely for Allah, the Creator of the Universe.
