Ahab and Jehosaphat both went into the same battle - one that God did not approve of. Ahab had hired prophets who would just tell him whatever he wanted to hear, while Jehosaphat wanted to listen to God's true prophets.

Ahab acted out of selfish ambition, while Jehosaphat acted out of duty and brotherly solidarity with King Ahab. Ahab fought shamefully in the battle, trying to let Jehosaphat draw most of the attention and danger to himself, while he tried to hide among common foot soldiers. Ultimately Ahab was killed in this battle as a result of his arrogance, while Jehosaphat lived on to be a pretty good king.

How does God meet us in morally ambiguous situations? Can the God who sees into our hearts, who sees the work of spiritual beings behind the scenes, can this God work through our messy situations? How does God's sovereignty interact with our free choices?
