Here is the NEW Trailer to "Tea With Two Sugars" film production from our 'Being Heard Music' group at 'Cerebral palsy Midlands'. The film will premiere on Wednesday 5th July at "Touchbase Pears (SENSE)" in Birmingham, UK and then will be uploaded to our Cerebral Palsy Midlands ‘YouTube’ account to be shared widely out into the community.

This project has been funded by 'National Lottery' 'Awards for all' Community Grants. A collaboration between our 'Being Heard' Music Group together with 'Quench Arts'. This is an original musical with the music directed by Musical Direct Richard Ganner and ‘Being Heard’ team members. This project from the very beginning has been user-led, with our citizens devising the story, lyrics and creating/performing music for the show. Through discussions with members from the ‘Being Heard’ group, they have stated that people in the community just don't know how to speak to them, often defaulting to speaking to a carer or speaking very slowly.

The (Dis)Ability Awareness Musical “Tea With Two Sugars” will aim to break down these barriers through this disability awareness musical, helping the community to communicate with people with CP in the future. It is a piece based on inclusion and the issues that many still face within everyday life. The issues focused on vary from the limitations of public transport to people’s attitudes and biases towards people with disabilities. 'Being Heard' music group hope that this piece can inspire people to rise against prejudice and take a moment to think about their own attitudes towards people who are not as able as they are.

The investment of funding from ‘National Lottery’ ‘Awards for All’ Community Grants has created the opportunity for adults with disabilities who have complex support needs to create their own short film. There simply aren’t enough opportunities for disabled people to be involved in films, directing, writing music and we hope that this helps us create awareness that this can be done.
