The Ogden Train Show is one of America's best train shows. This week we look at the historic prototype trains at the Utah State Railroad Museum

One advantage of having a train show in a train station is that you can ride the train to the show! The Ogden Union Depot is a historic depot. In 1869, after driving the Golden Spike at Promontory Summit, the official union was moved to this spot because Promontory was remote. This depot represents the joining of the two Pacific Railroads, the Union Pacific and the Southern Pacific.

It is also the home of the Utah State Railroad Museum. Dozens of steam and diesel locomotives are here on display. As well as rolling stock including passenger cars, a railway post office, and an army hospital car.
