This Whiskey rocks!
This is the Thin Lizzy Irish whiskey, which is a brand founded by members of the
band Thin Lizzy, and their family members.
It’s a sourced blend, coming from the West Cork Distillery, and apparently has a “unusual” blend of
malt and grain whiskeys, but they don’t say what that blend is. It’s meant to be a relatively simple
whiskey, coming in at 40% ABV, but was aged in extra-charred casks, which should give it a bit more
character than some other entry-level blends.
And that’s about all there is to it, so let’s dive in!
Thin Lizzy Irish Whiskey Tasting Notes
Nose:
It's relatively simple on the nose, with classic caramel, toffee and vanilla which are the hallmark of bourbon casks, with a little bit of extra spice from the charred casks.
Palate:
The palate is very sweet, with toasted grains, and a little bit of that charred oak influence giving a touch of spice to the palate
Finish:
The finish is quite short, as you would expect, but it's not unpleasant, with just the notes from the palate fading off
Overall, this is a whiskey. It smells like a whiskey, tastes like a whiskey, and can be used in whiskey
cocktails. It’s the kind of entry-level whiskey, or bottom shelf whiskey, that if you see it in the store
or a bar, and you haven’t tried it and you’re just looking for something simple, it won’t hurt to try.

I'm a total whiskey nerd and this channel is all about Whiskey, Whisky, Bourbon, Rye, Pot Still Whiskey and Single Malt Whiskey. I'm always on the hunt for the best whiskey and love making whiskey review videos. My passion is for Irish whiskey, but I'm open to looking for the best Bourbon or the best scotch too!
I'm an Irishman, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying whiskeys from all around the world, from Kentucky bourbon to Japanese single malts. I also love making cocktails, especially whiskey cocktails (or whisky cocktails) and really enjoy taking a classic recipe and adding my own twist to it, or making simple, 3 ingredient cocktails
