Drawing inspiration from Jørn Utzon and coastal bunkers, Bunkeren is a unique dwelling nestled into a sloping Australian hillside. The design prioritizes connections to the surrounding landscape while providing a resilient shelter for a family and their guests.

The house is partially buried, with concrete slabs mimicking the natural rock formations. This not only offers protection from the elements but also creates a seamless integration with the environment. Roof gardens planted with native flora further blur the lines between architecture and nature.

Bunkeren caters to both family life and social gatherings. The L-shaped plan incorporates a spacious living area with ocean views, a dedicated children's wing, and a guest studio. The sunken lounge area with a hidden moat and the "stone room" carved from the existing rock add a touch of intrigue and a connection to the earth's geology.

Throughout the design, thoughtful details like strategically placed breaks and a moat filled with light create a sense of flow and connection with the landscape. The use of high-quality materials like concrete and carefully selected light fixtures adds a touch of luxury and warmth to the contemporary aesthetic.
